The Arc in Florida:
Actors Lauren Potter and Robin Trocki (pictured) from the hit show Glee are joining our 60th anniversary celebration.
They will be in Orlando, Florida, to accept The Arc's Inclusion & Image Award in recognition of their achievements in television for breaking down barriers, increasing awareness and challenging stereotypes.
Actress Robin Trocki plays Jean, the sister of coach Sue Sylvester (played by Jane Lynch) on Glee. Robin, who has Down syndrome, is pivotal in the show’s storyline to understanding Sue's most often hidden positive qualities as the show’s lead character and nemesis.
Through Robin's portrayal of Jean, who lives in a residential home for people with disabilities, viewers of Glee experience a personal perspective on relationships between siblings and on independent living.
Actress Lauren Potter of Glee plays Becky Jackson, a William McKinley High School special education student with Down syndrome who is accepted onto the cheerleading team.
Glee underscores inclusion for people with disabilities as coach Sue Sylvester treats Becky like she treats every other cheerleader, pushing her to her absolute limits, never once going easy on her because of her condition.
